Undergraduate (Semester) Students WWU students called to active duty in the National Guard or other U.S. military service:
Tuition and Fees
More than 30 days before the semester ends: May withdraw with a full tuition refund and prorated room and board refund.
Within 30 days of the semester end: May either withdraw (with applicable refunds) or complete coursework through arrangements with instructors.
Grades and academic credit
Students choosing to complete courses will receive an Incomplete (I) grade and have up to 3 years after release from active duty to finish coursework, per federal guidelines.
Students may also choose to complete some courses and withdraw from others; refunds will be prorated accordingly.
All affected students will be placed on official academic leave and may return under the catalog and tuition terms in effect at the time of their leave.
Graduate and Online Students Students called to active duty with more than two weeks remaining in a course may:
Withdraw and receive a full refund of tuition for the course, or
Complete coursework by arrangement with instructors and receive an Incomplete (I) grade. Coursework must be completed within 3 years of release from duty.
Partial withdrawal is permitted; refunds will be prorated accordingly. Students will be placed on official academic leave and may return under the same terms in effect at the time of their leave.
Process
Students must notify the Registrar and provide official military orders as soon as possible.
At that time, students will choose to withdraw or receive an Incomplete (I) in each course.
Prior to returning, students must provide documentation of release from active duty.
