Undergraduate Students
The unit of college credit for all courses completed at William Woods University is the semester hour. Full-time status range is 12-18 credit hours per semester. Traditional undergraduate students are restricted to nine credits of online undergraduate coursework during the summer semester and cannot take more than three credits per sub term (See Online Policy for Traditional Undergraduate Students). Class loads more than the maximum credit hours established for each semester are reserved for students with at least a 3.00 GPA. A course load exceeding 18 credit hours per semester is considered an overload, which must be approved by the appropriate Academic Dean prior to registration.
Graduate Students
Full-time status for the master's and specialist degrees is six credit hours per semester. For three-quarters time enrollment, the minimum is four and one-half credit hours, and for half-time enrollment, a minimum of three credit hours per semester is required. Full-time status for the doctorate degree is three credit hours per semester. For three-quarters time enrollment, the minimum is two credit hours, and for half-time enrollment, a minimum of one credit hour per semester is required. Graduate students are limited in taking a maximum of 4.5 credits per five-week sub term. A student may request to the appropriate Academic Dean to take additional credits per sub term. A student must receive approval from the appropriate Academic Dean before enrolling into more than 4.5 credits per five-week sub term. A graduate student cannot enroll in more than 18 credits per semester.
