Bachelor's Degree Equivalency

This policy establishes the requirements for students seeking admission to master's degree programs and have obtained a bachelor's degree from an international institution where the degree is not considered equivalent to a four-year bachelor's degree in the United States. This policy applies to applicants to any master's degree program who hold a three-year bachelor’s degree from an international institution.

Applicants holding a bachelor's degree covered under this policy must demonstrate completion of coursework or its equivalent that satisfies the requirements of a four-year U.S. bachelor's degree before being fully admitted to a master's degree program.

Acceptable methods of fulfilling this requirement include:

  • earning a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution;

  • completing additional undergraduate coursework at a regionally accredited U.S. institution or its equivalent as determined by the appropriate William Woods University college or school academic dean A GPA of 2.0 in the additional coursework is required; or

  • by submitting a course-by-course evaluation from an approved credential evaluation company demonstrating U.S. bachelor's degree equivalency. The evaluation must clearly state that the applicant's prior education is equivalent to a four-year U.S. bachelor's degree.

Applicants are responsible for providing all necessary documentation, including transcripts and credential evaluations, to demonstrate their academic qualifications. The Registrar’s Office is responsible for reviewing official international credential evaluations and determining whether an applicant has met the requirements of this policy.
