Credit Transfer from Third-Party Providers
William Woods University (WWU) recognizes the value of certification programs and courses approved by the American Council on Education (ACE), such as those provided by Coursera and Sophia Learning, as eligible for credit transfer. WWU will accept ACE-verified courses and certifications for academic credit, regardless of whether the certification is integrated within an existing WWU course for which the student already receives credit. However, these certifications are intended to complement, not replace, the primary course content within WWU programs. The certification material should not constitute the entire or majority of a course’s content.
WWU will transfer the ACE-recommended credit hours into a student’s program; however, in unique cases, the respective schools or departments may reassess and approve a specific number of credit hours eligible for transfer. The Executive Dean holds final decision-making authority on all credit transfer matters concerning third-party certifications.
