Time Limitations of Degree Completion

Undergraduate students are expected to complete their degree programs within five years of the onset of study. Students continuing beyond five years may be required to repeat previously completed course work or to complete coursework not required at the time of their initial admission. Master’s and Education Specialist students are expected to complete their degree programs within three years of the onset of study. Students continuing beyond three years may be required to repeat previously completed course work or complete coursework not required at the time of their initial admission to ensure their academic credentials are up to date. Waivers of the time limitations for undergraduate, master’s and education specialist degree completion may be made by the Office of Academic Affairs. Doctoral students must complete all degree requirements within seven years from the onset of study. Individual programs may have stricter timelines to completion. Doctoral students continuing beyond six years may be required to repeat previously completed course work or complete coursework not required at the time of their initial admission to ensure their academic credentials are up to date. No waivers/extensions to the time limits for doctoral students will be granted beyond the end of the seventh year from the onset of study. Doctoral students who do not complete all degree requirements at the end of seventh year may reapply for admission into their program of study however, they will need to repeat all course work and meet all additional requirements for the degree.
