Academic Warning Probation and Suspension - Graduate Students

Academic Warning

A student will receive notice of academic warning when meeting any of the following conditions: 

  • Earning an initial “C” letter grade.

  • Earning an initial F in a Pass/Fail course.

  • Earning an initial US in a Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory course.

A student will return to good standing after repeating the C or F course and receiving a grade of B or higher within one academic year.


Academic Probation

A student will be placed on academic probation when meeting any of the following conditions

  • Earning an initialF” or a second “C” in an A-F letter grade scale.

  • Earning a letter grade lower than a “B” on a repeated course.

  • Earning a second “US” in a Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory course.

A student will return to good standing after repeating the C or F course and receiving a grade of B or higher.

 

Academic Suspension
A student not in good standing will be suspended from the university for one calendar year when meeting any of the following conditions:

  • Failing to earn a “B” or higher on a twice repeated course.

  • Earning a second “F”.

  • Receiving a third “US” in a Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory course.

 

A suspended student may return to WWU following one calendar year and must complete an application for readmission.

A cumulative 3.0 GPA is required for degree conferral.
