ITP 217 Discourse Analysis

This course explores the structure and meaning of ASL and English through the lens of discourse analysis. Students will examine how linguistic features, cultural context, and semantic nuances influence communication in ASL and English. Emphasis will be placed on analyzing and producing accurate translations between ASL and English, considering factors such as culturally specific terminology and differences between high- and low-context cultures. Students will also be introduced to key linguistic and cognitive processing principles relevant to translation and interpretation.
